The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is the most-produced aircraft in history. It first flew in 1955 and entered production in 1956 as a tricycle-gear development of the Cessna 170, which made it the world's standard trainer. A modified 172 also set a 64-day endurance record in 1958–59. The 172S, introduced in 1998, uses the Lycoming IO-360-L2A rated at 180 hp. The Continental CD-155 Jet-A diesel is available by STC or on the factory 172 JT-A (TCDS 3A12). Our overhaul team works on this engine.
